The Wichita Falls Chamber of Commerce and Industry has announced Kevin Pearson will serve as Interim President and CEO in the wake of Tim Chase's departure later this month.
Pearson is the current Executive Vice President for Economic Development. He has a total of 28 years in Economic development and has also asked to be considered permanently for the position. He wanted to reassure everyone who works with the chamber that any transition will go smoothly. He said, "There won't be any change in services that will be offered to our 1000 plus members during this transition time."
Pearson said even though the chamber hasn't landed a "home run" or marquee business in the last few years, there have been smaller successes people should remember. He said, "Working with our existing businesses is critical to the long term success of the community."
Funding for economic development comes from the city's 4A Sales Tax Corporation, but Pearson says they need additional funding. He said, "Its our opinion that if we're going to be successful in economic development we have to get money from the private sector to match those funds that are coming from the 4A board."Pearson anticipated some kind of fundraising effort would be a top priority for the next president/CEO
Current President and CEO Tim Chase's last day will be February 15th. he is moving on to take a similar position in Wichita, Kansas.
