LAWTON, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the death of a Lawton woman who died in a police-involved shooting.
OSBI said police were called Thursday afternoon to check on the welfare of a woman who was reportedly suicidal. Officers said the woman pulled out a gun and at least one officer fired at her.
The woman was fatally shot, but investigators say they don't yet know whether she was struck by police gunfire or if she shot herself. OSBI says the medical examiner's office will make that determination.
Authorities say investigators will interview officers at the scene and any witnesses then forward those findings to the district attorney to determine whether any charges should be filed.
