PJ Party Promotes Literacy

Posted: Updated:

Texoma Children's Literacy Awareness Week is underway. The goal is to bring attention to the importance of reading to children to boost their learning potential.

The United Way's research shows about 50 percent of Texoma children are not kindergarten-ready and could significantly benefit from an increased focus on school readiness. Reading in the home from birth to age five is critical in preparing children to be ready for the kindergarten classroom.

Our very own Newschannel 6 Lindsey Forst took part in Tuesday's event reading to a group of children at Perfected Praise Child Care Center on Seymour Highway.
