Brunch Highlights #1 Killer Of Women

Posted: Updated:

The 9th annual United Regional Foundation Heart of a Woman Brunch brought hundreds of Texoma women together to raise awareness about heart disease, the number one killer of women.

Attendees received a free wellness panel screening, as part of their ticket to the brunch. "All we do is just draw the blood...take it back over to the hospital, run it through our chemistry analyzers and hematology analyzers and it will put out the results," said Technical Supervisor at United Regional Reference Lab Charles Goodale.

The results are then mailed to each person's house, and can be used by their personal doctors.

The event featured a healthy meal, as well as an interactive section where attendees got up out of their seats and danced in the aisles.

Actress and comedienne Vicki Lawrence from the "Carol Burnett Show" was the featured speaker, bringing laughter to a tough subject.

Survivors and those still battling with heart disease shared their personal stories of fight and triumph.
