About 10,000 football fans packed inside Memorial Stadium Sunday. It was the first game for the Wichita Falls Nighthawks. In true football fashion fans came early, stayed late and had lots of fun watching the minor professional football team.
Mark Groves came out at 8 a.m. ready to tailgate.
"We had ribs, chicken, brisket," he said.
The atmosphere was what you would expect for a Texas football game and for some it was a bit overwhelming.
"It's really crowded, it's good to see all of this," said one Texoma woman.
When the moment finally arrived and the team came roaring onto the field the excitement wasn't hard to hear.
"We just love football and we love the idea of something coming to Wichita Falls that everybody can support."
Fans also got the opportunity to see and meet Tim Tebow the teams first guest. He signed autographs and posed for pictures.
Before you knew it the game was over. The Nighthawks would go on to claim victory for their first game of the year 44-15 making the day even more special for all the fans.
