Iowa Park CISD school board members have selected Steve Moody as the lone finalist to be Superintendent of the schools.

The decision was made with a unanimous vote during a called Sunday evening meeting at the school administration building.

Moody told Newschannel 6 there is a 21-day waiting period before he can officially take over the position. He will stay assistant superintendent until March 8.

The soon-to-be superintendent has served the school district as assistant superintendent since 2007. He will fill the vacancy left with the retirement of Jerry Baird, who has served in the position for 11 years.

Moody graduated with a BS degree in Education from Midwestern State University where he also played baseball. He later earned his masters degree and administrative certification.

He has worked in education for more than 30 years serving as a coach, teacher, assistant principal, and elementary and junior high school principal before he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Schools.

Moody told Newschannel 6 he's looking forward to it his new position. He said it's a great opportunity and he's honored to have the opportunity to lead Iowa Park schools.
