Despite our drought conditions Texomans still came out to the Home and Garden Festival for some gardening tips. Doors opened Saturday morning for the show. A number of vendors were there with dazzling displays. Several speakers had tips ranging from keeping your trees alive during this drought to gardening with native plants. Organizers of this yearly festival told Newschannel 6 more about where funds from the event go.
"It is a fundraising effort that was created for the Kemp Center provides about a third of our operating budget. All our member organizations have opportunities to sell the advance tickets as a fundraising effort for themselves," said Carol Sales with the Kemp Center.
Doors open back up Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Katherine Smith from Smith's Gardentown will give a presentation about "Living Walls." Tickets are $7.00 at the door and $5.00 at the door for active military.
