
Midwestern State plays host to a six-team, 15-game Courtyard by Marriott
Invitational the weekend at Mustangs Park.
The tournament features five
games on Friday beginning at 11 a.m., six games on Saturday and four games on
Sunday starting at 9 a.m. both days.
The tournament champion will be
decided by the best overall record with descending tiebreakers of head-to-head
results, runs allowed then runs scored.

Midwestern State senior Sarita Adhikary was selected as the Lone Star Conference
Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week by the league office for her outstanding
performance last week.
Adhikary helped lead Midwestern State to a 2-1
week with wins over Dallas Baptist and East Central and a loss to Tyler Junior
College, the top-ranked team in the NJCAA.
The native of Kathmandu,
Nepal, did not lose a match over the weekend, going 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in
doubles.
Adhikary beat DBU's Katie Daugherty 6-0, 7-6(5) and ECU's
Bernardita Muscillo 0-6, 6-4, 10-4, both at No. 2.
In doubles with
partner Taylor Coffman, the team beat TJC's Kylie Reynaud/Kerry Wiegard 8-6 at
No. 2, DBU's Leah Rutt/Katie Daughgerty 9-7 at No. 2, and ECU's Marta
Valles/Elisabeth Dignard 8-3 at No. 1.
The Mustangs begin Lone Star
Conference play on Friday when Incarnate Word visits the MSU Tennis Center.
First serve is set for 10 a.m. MSU also hosts Oklahoma Christian on Saturday at
10 a.m.
Midwestern State senior Luke Joyce was chosen as the Lone Star Conference Men's
Tennis Athlete of the Week by the LSC office for his performance last
week.
Joyce led the Mustangs to a 3-0 week as a team with a wins over
Dallas Baptist and East Central and the NJCAA's No. 2 ranked Tyler Junior
College. Joyce went 2-1 at No. 1 singles for the week and 3-0 at No. 1 doubles
with teammate Colby Meeks.
The senior from Johannesburg, South Africa,
beat ECU's Stefan Stein 6-1, 6-2 and DBU's Phillip Allen 6-1, 6-1. The only
match he dropped was to ITA Small College Super Bowl champion and NJCAA No. 1
ranked Adrien Berkowicz of TJC 6-4, 6-4.
With Meeks, the team beat ECU's
Julian Caminos/Victor Blasco 8-4, DBU's Bradley Hilliard/Phillip Allen 8-2 and
TJC's James and Mitch Martell 8-6.
Midwestern opens Lone Star Conference
play on Friday morning against Incarnate Word. First serve at the MSU Tennis
Center is 10 a.m. The Mustangs also play Saturday at 10 a.m. when Oklahoma
Christian closes out the homestand.
