For the third straight game, the Wichita Falls Nighthawks soared a blowout win. This time, the team won 66-6 over Cooke County.
While 66 points may draw the headlines, the Nighthawks defense was the story, holding Cooke County to -4 yards of offense for the game. After forcing two Cooke County fumbles and a 1-yard punt on the first three possessions of the game, runningback Justin Johnson scored three times for the Nighthawks to give the home team an early 21-0 lead just five minutes into the game. He didn't carry the ball the rest of the game.
Overall, the Nighthawks offense threw for 127 yards and ran for 118. The defense added four interceptions and three sacks.
The Nighthawks hit the road next to take on Permian Basin in Odessa next Sunday at 3 p.m.
