Shooting On Ave. K Pre-Trial

One man charged with aggravated robbery is due in 89th District Court Thursday for a pre-trial and bond reduction hearing.

Darran Edward Farmer was arrested for his connection with a March shooting on Ave. K.  Police said the 23-year-old and two other men entered a home and held two people inside the home at gun point.

Renard Vaughn was arrested and charged on April 13th with aggravated robbery.  His bond has been set at $200,000.  Police were told by an informant that the 23-year-old was the driver of the vehicle.   In an interview Vaughn admitted to driving the suspects to and from the robbery in his vehicle.

Albert Payten was previously arrested with aggravated robbery.  His bond has been set at $750,000.  The 32-year-old also known as "Red", is a known blood gang member who was one of the two suspects sought by police in the shooting on Avenue K.

A photo lineup including Payten was shown to the two victims and a witness, who all identified him as being involved in the shooting.

Authorities said as the suspects ran from the residence, at least eight shots were fired. One victim was struck two times on the front porch, while another was grazed on his left shoulder and hit in the left side of his face. The bullet exited his head near the left ear.

The victims were taken to the hospital and released.
