Midwestern State slipped out of the latest National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association Division II Poll released Wednesday morning, but continues to receive votes.
The Mustangs snapped out of a five-game skid with three consecutive wins including a doubleheader sweep over No. 9 Central Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon.
MSU (23-9) spent the last two weeks at No. 19 after winning 15 of 16 games from Feb. 10 to March 15. Seven of the Mustangs' nine losses came against teams currently receiving mention in the NFCA poll. Midwestern is one of only two teams boasting a win over top-ranked West Texas A&M this season.
MSU is one of six teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 1 West Texas A&M (24-2), No. 8 Texas Woman's (30-7), No. 12 Colorado Mines (22-3-1) and No. 22 St. Mary's (Texas) (28-10) while Angelo State is also receiving votes.
The Mustangs return to Lone Star Conference play with a three-game series against Incarnate Word in San Antonio. The teams play a single game Thursday night at 7 p.m. before squaring off in a doubleheader beginning at noon on Friday.
