Texas Economy Continues Upward Trend

Posted: Updated:

The addition of 80,600 jobs in February has helped the Texas economy continue its upward trend in job growth.

The state's employment has grown by 3.3 percent of the past year, with 11 major industries showing positive growth over the year.

Texas' seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.4 percent in February. This was up slightly from 6.3 percent in January, but down from 7.1 percent a year ago.

The state's unemployment rate also remained below the nation unemployment rate of 7.7 percent.  This made it the 74th consecutive month that the Texas unemployment rate has been below the nation rate.
