Wildcats Lose, Eliminated from Playoffs

"Pack the House" night drew over 5,100 fans to the Kay Yeager Coliseum Friday night, but the Wichita Falls Wildcats could only muster a single goal in a disappointing 2-1 loss to Topeka that ended their slim playoff hopes.

Peter Halash and Tyler Andrew scored in a 3:31 span in the first period to give Topeka a 2-0 lead, and while Kyle Bauman scored with 2:58 left to make it interesting, Spencer Viele stopped the Wildcats' other 23 shots for the win.

The loss, coupled with Corpus Christi's 7-5 win over Odessa, officially eliminated the Wildcats from the race for the final playoff spot in the NAHL South Division.

The Wildcats will close out the 2012-13 season Saturday night at 7:15 against Topeka.

Note: "Voice of the Wildcats" Drew Pelto was honored before the game. He will call his 393rd and final game for the team Saturday night.
