Archer County Homicide Investigation

A death investigation is turning into a possible homicide investigation in Archer County.

The Archer County Sheriff's Office said Billy Jack Stevens, Sr., 54, was found dead in Megargel on Tuesday. He was found in the front yard of a home in the 600 block of 5th St. Deputies said Stevens knew the person who lives in the home.

Deputies believe Stevens died of blunt force trauma to the head, but they are waiting for an official cause of death from an autopsy being performed. No weapons were found. Deputies also believe alcohol was a factor.

Deputies have two persons of interest in this case.
