Midwestern State slipped two places to No. 19 in the latest National Fast-pitch Coaches' Association Division II Poll released Wednesday afternoon.
The Mustangs (41-14) have won at least 40 games for the fifth time in program history and for the third time in the last four seasons. MSU has won 13 of its last 15 games heading into postseason play.
The Mustangs open Lone Star Conference tournament play Thursday against Tarleton State at Schaeffer Park in Canyon as part of the LSC Spring Sports Festival. First pitch is set for 4:30 p.m.
Midwestern is one of five teams from the South Central Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 6 Texas Woman's, No. 8 West Texas A&M and No. 13 Colorado Mines while St. Mary's (Texas) is receiving votes.
Indianapolis (Ind.) retained its hold on the top spot for the fifth straight week receiving 10 of the 16 first-place votes. The Greyhounds are followed by Southeastern Oklahoma (3 first-place votes), Armstrong Atlantic (Ga.), Valdosta State (Ga.) (2 first-place votes) and Humboldt State (Calif.) (1 first-place vote) to round out the Top 5.

Texas Woman's (43-11) leads the way followed by West Texas A&M (41-10), MSU, St. Mary's (Texas) (38-11), Colorado Mines (36-5-1), Angelo State (Texas) (33-15), St. Edward's (Texas) (28-19), Incarnate Word (Texas) (26-22), Colorado Christian (25-21) and Tarleton State (Texas) (25-21).
The top eight teams advance to the 2013 NCAA Division II South Central Regional which will be played in two four-team, double elimination tournament at campus sites from May 10-11.
If the postseason started today, Texas Woman's would host St. Mary's (Texas), Colorado Mines and Incarnate Word in one regional while Midwestern State, Angelo State and St. Edward's would travel to West Texas A&M in the second regional.
The advancing teams battle in a best-of-3 super regional at the site of the highest remaining seed on May 17-18 for the right to play in the 2013 NCAA Division II Softball Championships to be held from May 23-27 at Moyer Complex in Salem, Va.
