Veteran's Golf Scramble in Archer City

The Freedom Care Warrior Project will sponsor a Veteran's Golf Scramble Saturday, May 11 at Archer City Country Club.

The entry fee will be $160 for each team of four players, and includes a round of golf, a barbecue meal and a "golf stuff" goodie bag for each player.

The tournament will be a four-man scramble, best-ball format.

The Project supports wounded veterans through outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, skeet shooting and other outdoor sports.

The FCWP is based in Graham, but organizer and Army Veteran James Pippin, a 1983 Archer City HS graduate, said he wanted to bring an event to his home town.

You can register by calling the Archer City Country Club at 574-4322, or on the Project's website.

There will also be a number of other events including a closest-to-the-pin competition, chipping contest, putting contest and a helicopter ball drop.

Flights will be Saturday at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
