McKenna Untalan Heading to Vernon College

For the second day in a row, the younger sister of a Vernon College softball player signed to join the program.

After Rider's Morgan Beeman (sister of Taylor Beeman) signed Wednesday, on Thursday Iowa Park's McKenna Untalan signed to be a Lady Chaparral.

The younger Beeman and Untalan were also teammates with the Texas Ragdolls club team.

"Well, I know Mo, because I played traveling with her," Untalan said. "So that's really exciting that I know her."

McKenna's older sister Blaire Untalan graduates from Vernon College on Saturday, so they won't quite get to play together, but McKenna said Thursday Blaire encouraged her to stay close to home.

"She said it was a really good program and she always had fun," McKenna said of her sister. "She had fun on all the trips, and it was just exciting that she still got to play."

McKenna said she was happy to be close to home and her parents.

She said she's hoping to bring her enthusiasm and spirit to the team.

"I'm always trying to keep the team up and trying to keep them going, with my fun attitude," Untalan said.

She and her Lady Hawk teammates will try to keep their season going in a rematch with the Kennedale Lady Kats, who eliminated Iowa Park in this round last season.

Game 1 is Friday night at 7 p.m. at Bowie High School, with Game 2 set for Saturday at 5 p.m. and Game 3 to follow, if needed.

    Thursday, the Dallas Cowboys switch things up holding padded practice in the morning and held walk-throughs in the afternoon. Cowboys Quarterback Dak Prescott wasn't very sharp, which is weird to say. We all know the Rookie of the Year had a tremendous first season while setting an NFL rookie record with a passer rating of over 105.
