Hirschi Seniors Headed to WBU

Two more Hirschi High School seniors will be studying and playing sports at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas next year!

Adam Jackson (soccer) and Monesha Williams (track) became the latest Huskies to move to the next level.

Jackson is a four-year letterman for Coach Alston Calliste, a two-time team MVP and the reigning District 9-4A Defensive MVP.

He was part of the first Husky soccer team to reach the playoffs, in 2011.

Jackson said he was proud of that and other accomplishments at Hirschi.

"I got to play with my brother," Jackson said. "I got to play with the same coaching staff every year. I think it really shows that Hirschi has developed in all sports areas. We're known for basketball and for track, but we have great coaches that develop players in all fields."

Meanwhile Williams took 5th place in the 3A girls' 200-Meters this year at the State meet in Austin, after winning the District 5-3A 100- and 200-Meters.

She said she didn't have any offers until running at the State meet, then the WBU coach came up to her right after the race.

"I was going to go sit down," Williams said. "And the Wayland track coach stopped me and asked me, have I been offered any scholarships for track?

"I told him no, but that I was talking to West Texas A&M. And when I told him that, he offered me a full ride, so I just took it."
