Girl Scouts in troop 8517 in Wichita Falls are working to save water!

Juniors from Girl Scout Troop 8517, based out of Wichita Falls, are working on receiving their Bronze Award. In order to receive the award, the girls are informing their community about saving water. They want the public to help them save water!

The girl scouts believe it is important to save water so Texoma's water situation won't get out of hand, especially because of the drought.

The girl scouts compiled a list of tips the public can use to save water.
They're asking the public…

Did you know:

  • If you brush your teeth without the water running, you save 25 gallons of water?
  • Shortening your shower time by one to two minutes can save up to 150 gallons of water per month?-       Turning off the water while you wash your hair can save up to 150 gallons per month?
  • You can save water and time by brushing your teeth in the shower?

  • If you wash your fruits and vegetables in a pan of water instead of running water, you can use the leftover water for watering your plants?
  • You should make sure to turn off the faucet tightly after each time you use it.
  • Dripping faucets can waste hundreds of gallons of water. You should also listen for dripping faucets.
