A health fair hosted by the Family Health Center was held at the Wichita Falls Multi-Purpose Events Center Saturday. This is the 2nd year the Health Fair is being held and the first 150 people who attended the event received free lab screenings. Texomans who attended the event say it was an opportunity they didn't want to miss.
"I mainly came out to get my cholesterol checked and a few things checked" says attendee Mary Carson.
Over 30 doctors were present to answer any questions participants had about their health. Physicians covered topics ranging from diet and nutrition to disease prevention.
Wichita Falls Family Practice Program Director Ahmed Mattar M.D. says "it's all about staying healthy. About Preventative health care… about things you can do to stay healthy."
Eye and dental screening, blood tests, counseling and massage therapy were just some of the free services provided at the event. Doctors say health events like this is a good opportunity to catch health problems early and take care of it before it becomes a serious issue. Texomnas should pay close attention to their body and take proactive steps to lead a healthy life.
