Backdoor Theatre Presents "Funny Money"

"Funny Money" opens Friday on the Dinner Stage at Backdoor Theatre in Wichita Falls. The production runs June 1, 6, 7, 13, 14, and 15. Backdoor vet Gare Brundidge is directing the production.

The comedic play was written by British playwright Ray Cooney. The production first ran in London for more than two years. It was Americanized and turned into a movie in 2006.

Thursday shows (June 6 and 13) begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8:00 p.m. Dinner buffet opens an hour earlier at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets are $29 for adults, including dinner. To see the show only, tickets cost $17. Discounts are available for seniors, students, members of the military, and for large groups.

Actors told Newschannel 6 the fast-paced show is perfect for a fun evening out! It is appropriate for anyone older than 12 however, anyone under the age of 18 who attends must be accompanied by a parent because the humor is inappropriate for young children.

"Henry picks up the wrong brief case on the way home one day. He discovers that it is full of money. Now what to do? This Ray Cooney farce will not disappoint! Be prepared to laugh!"

Actors Dr. Jim Sernoe and Stephenie Willis-Koontz were guests on Newschannel 6 at Noon Tuesday to talk about the upcoming production. In the play, Sernoe and Willis-Koontz are playing Vic and Betty Johnson, friends of the accountant who finds the briefcase.
