Moore, Overstreet Take T-O Jr. Titles!

Moore Becomes First Local Girls' Winner

Burkburnett's Sarah Moore shot a final-round 67 to become the first Texoma native to win the Texas-Oklahoma Junior Golf Tournament's Girls' Open division title.

Moore began the day tied for the lead with MSU signee Sierra Campbell of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, both at 3-under par.

But Moore birdied four of her first six holes, starting on the back nine on the Champions' Course at Weeks Park, and never looked back while carding the best round of any girl at the tournament this week.

A rising senior at Burkburnett High School, Moore is also the two-time defending Class 3A UIL state champion. She finished 13th in this tournament a year ago.

Her older sister Brenna will be a junior at Midwestern State in the fall and played the T-O three times, finishing in the top ten all three times with a runner-up finish in 2010.

Campbell will be the elder Moore's teammate in the fall, and finished third this week after a final-round 75.

Ali Cowan of Victoria, TX finished second after a final-round 68 that left her 4-under par for the week.

Freshman Takes Boys' Open Title

Mason Overstreet started the day with a five-stroke lead and only saw it grow with a final-round 69 that helped him roll to the T-O Jr. Boys' Open title.

Overstreet, who won the Oklahoma Class 2A title as a freshman this spring for Laverne, shot par-or-better each round this week on his way to a nine-stroke win.

Overstreet was the only player under par in the Boys' open flight, finishing 6-under, while second-place finisher Zach James of Whitesboro was 3-over.

Holliday's Jared Baker, another MSU signee, managed a top-ten finish, tying for ninth at +11 after a final-round 75.

Two other Texoma boys made the cut. Wichita Falls High School's Jason Fitzgerald carded a final-round 78 while Quanah's Jordan Freeman shot 81.
