Oklahoma Cooling Program

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services started taking applications to help low-income households pay their cooling bills this summer.

The department began accepting applications on Tuesday.

Nearly $16-million will be available for its Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program through the federal government.

Program eligibility is based on household income. The anticipated one-time benefit ranges from $120 for a one-person household, to up to $180 for a household of two or more.

Households that already receive public assistance through DHS are expected to be automatically authorized.
