Bowie's Brandon Workman made his Major League Baseball debut late Wednesday night in Seattle for the Boston Red Sox.
He had a rough first inning, allowing a leadoff home run to Seattle's Brendan Ryan, followed by three doubles for a total of three runs on four hits.
The good part of the inning was that he did strike out two batters.
He followed that up with a scoreless ninth inning with two more strikeouts.
His final line was 2 innings pitched, with 3 earned runs allowed on 4 hits, striking out four and walking none in an 11-4 Red Sox win.
Speaking to the Boston Herald after the game, Workman said, "I learned two things: Leave the ball up over the plate, it's going to get hit real hard. And also, when I made better pitches and made pitches I'm capable of making, I had good results."
