MSU Football Ranked #15 in AFCA Poll

Midwestern State opens its 2013 campaign carrying a No. 15 ranking in the American Football Coaches' Association NCAA Division II Preseason Poll released Monday afternoon.

The Mustangs open the season against rival Tarleton State as part of the Lone Star Football Festival on Saturday, Sep. 14 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.

MSU has carried a national ranking into three of its last four campaigns as the Mustangs rated 19th in the 2010 preseason rankings and were fourth heading into last season after receiving votes in 2011.

Midwestern is one of 17 teams from the stacked Super Region to receive mention in the poll joining No. 3 West Texas A&M, No. 8 Colorado State-Pueblo, No. 9 Ashland (Ohio), No. 14 Grand Valley State (Mich.), No. 19 Indianapolis (Ind.) and No. 22 Saginaw Valley State (Mich.).

Michigan Tech, Ferris State (Mich.), Hillsdale (Mich.), Colorado Mines, Ohio Dominican, Tarleton State (Texas), Missouri S&T, New Mexico Highlands, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Wayne State (Mich.) are all receiving votes.

MSU has received votes in 84 of the last 85 polls dating back to the 2006 season.
