Arson & Stabbing Dual Investigation

Wichita Falls Police were called out to the 1600 block of Monroe Street around 5:30 Wednesday morning. Upon arrival officers found a home on fire and a man who had been stabbed once in the back. The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have arrested 39 year old John Henry Ramos as the suspect. He is being charged with one count of aggravated assault. For neighbors, this wasn't a surprising incident. Pauline Robinson who's owned a business in the neighborhood for 5 decades says this area never sees a dull moment.

"Almost 50 years and I've seen everything happen in this area. So it doesn't really surprise me. We just go with the flow, whatever happens you just do the best that you can" said Robinson.

The Wichita Falls Fire Department was able to keep the fire from spreading to other buildings. But with another case of crime added to the area, residents are concerned for their children's safety.

"We have little kids… and we want their safety" said neighbors Griselda and Perla Alba.

"I have children in my house and my husband… so it's scary" said Esmeralda Gutierrez, resident of the area.

The suspect James Henry Ramos has a lengthy criminal record. In the past he's been charged for numerous offenses including driving under the influence and burglary of a residence.

Arson investigators are now examining the home for more evidence.
