Drunk Driver Blamed In Deadly Crash

Posted: Updated:

Authorities say the driver was drunk when a car crashed last month in the Texas Panhandle, that killed a Wichita Falls man and four cast and crew members of the musical drama "Texas."

Senior Trooper Chris Ray of the Texas Department of Public Safety said Wednesday that the toxicology report on Clinton Scott Diaz showed he had a blood-alcohol level of .165 percent. The maximum blood-alcohol level allowed drivers by law is .08 percent.

Ray said the analysis also detected traces of marijuana intoxicants in the 20-year-old driver's blood.

DPS had said alcohol is suspected as a factor in the August 12,2013  crash when a car carrying six people ran a stop sign and collided with an 18-wheeler near Dumas. The lone survivor from the car remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition.

20-year-old Andrew Raymond Duncan, of Wichita Falls, was among those killed in the wreck. The one survivor from the car crash remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition.
