2013 Texas/Oklahoma Fair

The Founder Lions Club of Wichita Falls presents the 2013 Texas/Oklahoma Fair, opening Tuesday, September 17, and will continue each night through Saturday, September 21.

The Grand Opening Tuesday evening is set to begin at 6 p.m. in front of the MPEC, located at 5th and Burnett.

Weeknight hours are 6 – 10 p.m.

Saturday hours are 1 – 10 p.m.

Attractions and entertainment include:

- Carnival rides & games

- Livestock shows

- Music & entertainment on two stages

- Great food

- Pony rides

- Cake walk

- Arts & crafts

- Exotic animal free petting zoo

New acts this year include:

- "The Great Bear Show" (live bears)

- "Mind Surfing" (mentalist fun and magic)

Cost:

- Adults: $7

- Children: $2

- Arm band nights for rides: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday – $15 / night

Texomans can enter numerous awards for quilting, arts and crafts, and produce, among several other categories. People's choice awards will be distributed.

Contestants' work will be displayed through the fair inside in the MPEC.

People who wish to participate can register for $2 per item entered beginning 8 a.m. Monday.

    A new communications tower being proposed in Wichita Falls is raising concerns. One local business owner fears the tower will scare away visitors driving along the highway. The proposed location is currently 1212 Broad Street, near the Motel 6 off 12th Street.  The communications tower is expected to be nearly 165 feet high, and is located near several business and the overpass.

    According to the Wichita Falls Police Department, Rodney Scott Womack, 38, was driving southbound on Central Freeway around 10:45 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle.
