Lake Levels Still Above 31%

Posted: Updated:

Lake levels for Wichita Falls water consumption are still hovering above 31%.

The city released its newest data Monday. The data shows:

- Lake Arrowhead: 30.7%

- Lake Kickapoo: 34.0%

- Combined: 31.6%

It's the combined total that dictates whether the city will fall into Stage 4 Drought Restrictions. Stage 4 will be triggered when levels fall below 30%.

Newschannel 6 has discovered the Texas Water Development Board considered the Wichita Falls water supply to already be below 30%. The TWDB actually counts Lake Kemp as a water source. As of September 16th, the TWDB recorded the following lake levels:

- Lake Arrowhead: 30.7%

- Lake Kickapoo: 30.4%

- Lake Kemp: 25.1%

- Combined: 28.6%

Newschannel 6 is questioning the city about the difference. We're asking why Wichita Falls does not include Lake Kemp in its totals. Watch the full report on Newschannel 6 First at 5, or on Newschannel 6 at 6.
