Lawton's 14th Homicide of the Year

Posted: Updated:

Lawton police said they were called to 19th Street and D Avenue around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night after getting reports of gunshots.

When they got there, they found two people shot inside a car. Arthur Pekah, 31, was the driver.  He was shot in the head and he was later pronounced dead. A passenger was shot in the face, but he is expected to recover. Pekah's mother was in that car and suffered minor injuries when it crashed into a tree after her son was shot.  Officers later found a man who had been grazed by a bullet after it flew into his house.

The Lawton Police Department said it appears the shots were fired from some apartments to the north. They said the car was still moving when the victims were hit.

Police have not made any arrests.

This is the city's 14th homicide of the year.
