Missing Man Found Dead, Locked Inside a Gun Safe

A man reported missing a week ago was found dead in a locked gun safe.

Chris Darden, 34, was reported missing to the Bowie Police Department on September 13th.

Bowie is located in Montague County.

Bowie Police Lieutenant Guy Green told Newschannel 6 they found Darden Thursday night.

Officers found him while conducting a search warrant at Darden's residence in the 1200 block of Hidalgo.

Police do not know how long Darden had been trapped inside his own gun safe. Darden's body has been taken to Dallas for an autopsy.

At this time, police are investigating this as a death, not a homicide.

Texas Rangers out of Wichita Falls are helping Bowie police with this investigation.
