Lawton Shooting Sends One Woman To Hospital

Lawton Police are investigating a shooting that sent a 34-year-old woman to the hospital.

Police said it happened Tuesday around 3 a.m. at a house near 7th Street and G Avenue.
When police arrived, the woman's husband was also at the house.
Both told police the shooting was an accident.

The husband said he thought his wife was an intruder because they had been dealing with burglars. He told police he saw a shadowy figure standing in the bedroom, and fired a 30-caliber rifle before realizing it was his wife.

Police said the woman was taken to Southwestern Medical Center for a shoulder gunshot injury. The husband was taken to the police station for questioning.
