Midwestern State moved ahead two spots to No. 16 in the latest United State Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association Poll released Wednesday morning.
The Mustangs claimed their second meet victory of the season topping the result sheet at the West Texas A&M Stampede last Saturday in Canyon.
Paced by senior Ashley Flores and junior Gabby Ruiz, MSU amassed 54 points to edge Dallas Baptist (63), Eastern New Mexico (75), Tarleton State (98) and West Texas A&M.
The stacked South Central Region boasts eight teams in the national rankings including four in the Top 10 out of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. Adams State (Colo.) comes in at No. 2 followed by Western State (Colo.) at No. 4, Metro State (Colo.) at No 9 and Colorado-Colorado Springs at No. 10.
West Texas A&M slipped 11 spots to No. 23, while Dallas Baptist entered the poll at No. 24.
The top six squads from the South Central Region Championships set for Nov. 9 in Canyon move on to the NCAA Division II Championships.
Midwestern State competes in the Oklahoma State Cowboy Jamboree Saturday morning in Stillwater.
