Enrolling In The Affordable Care Act

Confusion continues to surround the Affordable Care Act. Many people are puzzled on what it is and don't know how to use it to their advantage.

One Texoman said "I have no idea and I would love to because my husband and I could use the insurance. We have no idea how to enroll."

Finding help in Texoma isn't as easy as it may sound. The government uses what they call navigators to explain the affordable care act to people and Texoma doesn't have any. Most of them are located in the bigger cities: Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Austin. If Texoma had navigators then more people would probably enroll.

A Texoman said "I don't know yet. I want more information. That's what everybody wants."

There are two ways you can enroll into Health Insurance Marketplace. Health Insurance Marketplace is associated with the government and will allow you to find the best quality of healthcare at the lowest cost. You can enroll with them online or call them any time of day at 1-800-318-2596.

For a link to their website click here.

To complete the application all you need is your tax information, your social security number and the social security number of anyone else you are covering.

If you decide to change your insurance before December 15, your new insurance will kick in at the beginning of the 2014. Registration will end on March 31, which is the deadline for everyone to get health insurance. If you don't have health insurance by April 1, 2014 then you will be forced to pay a fine.

Bear Weller, the owner, said the only reason his kitchen is open is that of his customers.
