David Nelson Signs with New York Jets

Former Petrolia Pirate and Rider Raider standout David Nelson has a new NFL team today.

He signed a one-year deal with the receiver-thin New York Jets Wednesday.

After a standout career at Florida, Nelson was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills and caught 94 passes for 1,042 yards in three seasons there.

But after a knee injury in Week 1 of 2012, he wasn't re-signed after the season.

He signed with the Cleveland Browns in the off-season but was one of the final cuts at the end of camp.

With Santonio Holmes (hamstring) and Stephen Hill (concussion) sidelined with injuries, Nelson could play Monday night against Atlanta.
