Speeding a Big Issue in Wichita Falls

Thousands of drivers got speeding tickets from October of last year through September of this year.

The Wichita Falls Police Department gave the numbers to Newschannel 6 as part of its Comprehensive STEP Grant report.

The STEP Grant helps police target traffic laws.

Here's how the numbers shook out:

Speeding: 2,445

Adult Seat Belts: 909

Stop Signs: 596

Red Lights: 115

Intersection Violations: 105

Child Seat Belts/Safety Seats: 21

Total Arrests: 9

The WFPD worked more than 2,000 hours and drove more than 18,000 miles in direct relation to the STEP Grant program.
