#TXDrought Pictures

Texans, get out your cameras and capture the drought! The deadline for your chance to share your Texas drought photos at the state capitol has been extended.

Representatives with the Texas Water Development Board announced Friday the original September 30 deadline to offer photos has been extended to October 31. People wanting to share photos of the ongoing drought can continue posting their originals online through social media.

The water board, the Texas Department of Agriculture, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are sponsoring the effort. In mid-late October, the agencies will display some of the drought photos collected at the Texas Capitol.

The push for pictures is all part of an interactive public awareness campaign to learn how the drought has impacted lives since 2010. The launch began August 5.

Photos can be posted online at http://www.flickr.com/groups/texasdrought. Images can also be posted to Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #TXDrought when sharing photographs. The campaign's Instagram is "TexasDrought."
