The 17th annual "Race for the Cure" was held Saturday morning in downtown Wichita Falls. This event is the largest footrace in Wichita Falls and began at 8 in the morning at the MPEC. Over 3,000 were expected to participate.
"We've all had people we know be affected by breast cancer and it's something we need to get taken care of. We need to find a cure so we're out here to help raise money and help promote the awareness of breast cancer" said race participant Josh Schrbrough.
This year, organizers added the Tunnel of Pink where participants can "get their pink on". Last year's race raised almost $180,000 of which 75% of the proceeds went to fund local breast cancer research and screening.
