Funeral Services Set to Honor Nick Gholson

Funeral arrangements for longtime Times Record News Sports Editor Nick Gholson have been set.

A service will be held Saturday, October 19 at 3:00 p.m. at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. The Coliseum is located on the Midwestern State University Campus at Taft and Midwestern Parkway. Visitation will be held after the funeral. The public is welcome to attend both.

Gholson passed away Sunday morning after a long battle with cancer.

Gholson, 66, grew up in Wichita falls. He began reporting for the paper in 1972.

He was writing sports columns and love letters almost until the end.

Gholson was an award winning writer. He told it like he saw it and, because of his opinionated honesty, wasn't always liked by all. But if you got to meet him, you would likely catch a smile.

He made a lot of friends over his 40 years of writing in this area and will be truly missed.
