The Wichita Falls ISD is kicking off a new reading initiative.
The program is called Read to Learn and focuses on improving the reading skills of 2nd graders.
Nationwide 45% of kids are not at grade level reading by the 4th grade, but with the help of volunteers this program is hoping to shatter statistics and give kids a fair shot at a good future.
All it take is 30 minutes of your time a week.
Volunteers will be paired with a child, spending half of the time reading and the other half listening to the child read.
To sign up just give P.I.E. District Coordinator January Jones a call at (940) 235-1009.
