A man who led authorities on a motorcycle pursuit, crashed, and then tried to get rid of a gun while running away, is now locked up behind bars.

Wichita Falls Police said an officer tried to stop Justin Travis Wayne Heard Monday night around 9:00p.m.  The 22-year-old sped away and then lost control of his motorcycle on the 3200 Block of Maurine Street.  Beard continued to run and then threw a semi-automatic pistol on the roof of a building.

Police believe the motorcycle was stolen because the license plate had numbers taped over it.

When heard was finally caught, police also found meth on him.

Heard is now facing a number of charges including Evading In A Vehicle, Possession Of A Controlled Substance In A Drug Free Zone, Unauthorized Use Of A Motor Vehicle, and Tampering With Identification Numbers.
