W.F.I.S.D. Consolidations

    It was decided tonight by the Wichita Falls School board that Alamo and Houston Elementary would be consolidated, Zundy and Barwise Junior High would also be consolidated.
    The motion to consolidate both school was made just before 6:30 p.m. after the school board acknowledged some of the publics concerns over the consolidation proposals.
    The motion to consolidate the Elementary Schools passes 6-1. Both Alamo and Houston will be combined into one school at Zundy Junior High. The name could still be subject to change that however will be decide in the future.
    The motion to consolidate the Junior High Schools was passed 7-0 . The Zundy Junior High will be moved into the Barwise Junior High, Barwise Junior high could also be subject to a name change.
    The motion to move forward and consolidate the schools is a thing of the past, what remains unclear is the affect these consolidations will have the students future.

    A new communications tower being proposed in Wichita Falls is raising concerns. One local business owner fears the tower will scare away visitors driving along the highway. The proposed location is currently 1212 Broad Street, near the Motel 6 off 12th Street.  The communications tower is expected to be nearly 165 feet high, and is located near several business and the overpass.

    According to the Wichita Falls Police Department, Rodney Scott Womack, 38, was driving southbound on Central Freeway around 10:45 p.m. when he lost control of his vehicle.
