Additional Remains Found

Service officials have found additional remains of an Air Force Pilot with ties to Sheppard Air Force Base.

Major Troy Gilbert completed his pilot training at Sheppard and was killed in Iraq in 2006.  Partial remains were recovered and buried with full honors at the Arlington National Cemetery in December 2006.

The air force requested to search for additional remains to be re-opened at the family's request.  The additional remains were recovered and received by the air forced in September 2012.

Notification of his family was delayed until it was determined that no other remains would be found.  They were finally notified on November 15th, 2013.

Gilbert's remains will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with the partial remains recovered in 2006.
