Operation Santa Claus

The Wichita Falls Fire Department hosted their annual Operation Santa Claus dinner and dance Saturday night.

The event began at 7 p.m. at the Elks Lodge on Seymour Highway. Tickets were $100 for two people and included dinner, live music, dancing and door prizes. Organizers said they were able to exceed their fundraising goal this year.

"We try to reach around $30,000 and then of course we buy the pick-up and several other things. Our goal is to reach anywhere from 600 to 850 kids and we're going to achieve that goal and then plus some," said Operation Santa Claus Board Member Jon Reese.

One lucky winner even won a 2014 Chevy pick-up truck.

All proceeds that were raised Saturday night will go towards buying bikes and toys for children who may otherwise go without presents on Christmas morning.
