Stage 2 Drought

The City of Bowie is implementing:

1.      Even numbered addresses water on even numbered days of the month

2.      Odd numbered addresses water on odd numbered days of the month

3.      Watering should occur only between the hours of 4:00a.m. and 8:00a.m. and 9:00p.m. and 11:00p.m.

Target: Achieve a 10 percent reduction in daily water demand

Best Management Practices for Supply Management:

a)      Continue with the implementation of all the actions outlined for mild conditions

b)      Prohibit any car, window, and pavement washing.  This does not include commercial car washes

c)      The lawn water schedule above will be made mandatory; and

d)     The following public uses of water, and any others determined to be not necessary for public health of safety, will be prohibited:

a.       Washing of streets

b.      Flushing of fire hydrants

c.       Filling of pools

d.      Watering of golf courses; and

e.       Watering of parks and athletics fields

e)      Wasting of water is prohibited.  Example of wasting include, but are not limited to, the following:

a.       Water escaping from landscape irrigation into gutters, ditches, streets, sidewalks, or other surface drains.

b.      Failure to promptly repair controllable leak due to defective plumbing after it is discovered; and

c.       Recreational use of faucets, hoses and fire hydrants
