Posted: Updated:

A man who led police on a high-speed chase though northwest Lawton is now in the Comanche County Detention Center.

It was a short pursuit for police on Monday because the driver, 28-year-old Jamel Liddel, lost control of his car and slammed into a parked SUV.  Just three blocks away from the scene of the crash, investigators were tipped off that something was tossed into a nearby dumpster.

On Monday, Comanche County sheriff’s confirmed a gun was found.

Sheriff Kenny Stradley said, “We believe it is stolen out of Louisiana.  So, that’ll be another charge on him.”

Sheriff Stradley said Liddel had two warrants out for his arrest.  One from 2008 on drug related charges, including another charge for possessing a firearm, resisting police, and reckless driving.
