A former paramedic was sentenced on Wednesday on charges that he tried to assemble a pipe bomb.
Bryce Reed was sentenced to 21 months after pleading guilty in October to an unrelated pipe bomb case. He was originally believed to be connected with the fertilizer plant explosion in West Texas this year. He was arrested a few weeks after the blast and was accused of hiding components of a pipe bomb.
Authorities said Reed never had any criminal responsibility linking him to the bombing in West, but they did find searches on his computer for explosives and purchases of ingredients on how to make one.
