The Wichita County Emergency Management Team is gearing up for this weekends wintry weather.
Len Nauman, Assistant Emergency Management Coordinator for Wichita Falls says he has been working nonstop to ensure that the team is ready for whatever this winter storm may bring.
"I've gone out to checked our generators and made sure they are operational we made sure governmental facilities have power," said. "We checked our vehicles."
The Wichita County Emergency Management team says it has storm plans put in place by the Texas Emergency Operation Plan, their own plan put in place for the entire county, and individual cities may also have their own plans as well.
While those plans are set in stone, Nauman says that his office can also modify plans to fit certain weather or disaster related events.
"You can't cover everything so you always have to be prepared for the unexpected," said Nauman. "You kind of prepare for the worst and hope that you never have to put those in effect."
That's why he encourages all Texomans to take necessary actions to properly prepare for the storm.
"The best thing is to stay off the roads," said Nauman. "If the roads are really bad, emergency vehicles and emergency traffic is going to need to be using those roads.
