Flu Activity Still Rising

Flu activity in Texas continues to increase.

According to the Texas Department of State Health Services all Texas regions have reported confirmed influenza in its labs.

Newschannel 6 spoke with Wichita County Public Health District Officials and they told us what you need to do to be able to protect yourself.  Leslie Greshman with the Wichita County Public Health District said peaks are usually seen between the months of December and February.  She encourages everyone to get their flu shot and said its not to late because the season is just beginning.

“It’s important because it’s the number one preventative measure to prevent you from getting sick or any secondary illness that are caused from it, like pneumonia,” Gresham said.

The youngest children can be vaccinated is at 6-months of age.
