Wichita Falls fire officials tell Newschannel 6 that a furnace at the PPG plant developed a hole that caused a fire at the plant. PPG crews worked to patch hole but needed some extra help and larger hoses. The Wichita Falls Fire Department was called in to assist.
Firefighters helped PPG crews seal the hole and stop the leak. The whole incident was contained in about 30-minutes. The furnace where the fire took place is about to be refurbished. It is used to heat glass to very high temperatures. No employees were ever in any danger and no one was hurt. PPG is in the northern part of Wichita Falls just off Interstate 44.
